As of the 23rd of March 2020 the President of the Republic has implemented a national lockdown to curb the rise in infections of COVID-19 amongst the population.
As the President has urged the people of South Africa to stand together during these challenging times we also must be socially responsible to our guests which is why we are not enforcing a “force majeure” policy on our guests.
What Reservations are covered?
The management of Zimbali Bookings have taken the decision to hold the monies paid towards your stay in credit which can be redeemed by 31 December 2021.
Reservations for stays made prior to 23rd of March 2020 with a check-in between 23rd of March 2020 and 25th August 2020 are covered by this policy.
Once the national lockdown is lifted or leisure travel is allowed by the South African government you may choose other available dates to travel and redeem your credit.
The credit is transferable to guests other than the original guests should you instruct us to do so in writing.
Please note: should the amount for the new reservation be greater than the credit amount, you will be required to settle the difference. This credit only applies to self-catering options in Zimbali.
What Reservations are NOT covered?
Reservations for new bookings made after the 23rd of March 2020 will not be issued a travel credit or refunded and will not be covered under our extenuating circumstances policy. COVID-19 related circumstances not covered include: transportation disruptions and cancellations; travel advisories and restrictions; health advisories and quarantines; changes to applicable law; and other national or local government mandates like evacuation orders, border closures, prohibitions on short-term rentals, and shelter-in-place requirements. Zimbali Bookings cancellation policy will apply as usual.
Our extenuating circumstances policy is intended to protect guests and hosts from unforeseen circumstances that arise after booking. After the declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, the extenuating circumstances policy no longer applies because COVID-19 and its consequences are no longer unforeseen or unexpected. Please remember to carefully review our cancellation policy when booking and consider taking out travel insurance.
